Newer model cars are more likely to be able to use either synthetic or conventional. Older model cars, however, typically will only use conventional oil. Putting synthetic oil in your sweet vintage convertible may lead to some troubles down the road, like more oil leaking or burning out quickly.

If your car does take synthetic oil, go for the cheapest one! The US Government has strict regulations around motor oil, so whichever oil you purchase will do the job on your car. No matter which oil you choose, be sure to maintain regular upkeep and change it as often as your car manual suggests.
