Every year, tons of pixels are spilled answering the question, “What cars have the best mpg?” And although, “What cars have the best mpg?”, might seem like a simple question, it requires a surprisingly complex answer. In 2015, lists of cars with the best fuel economy are dominated by electric vehicles, with nary a hybrid in sight, let alone the Honda Insight, which ranks as the most fuel efficient gasoline-fueled vehicle of all time, with a 61 mpg highway rating (that’s higher than the Prius’ combined mpg).
Electric vehicles, by definition, don’t get any miles per gallon, because electricity doesn’t come in gallons. Yet they still end up on lists of cars with the best mpg ratings. That’s because the capacity of batteries in hybrid cars and electric vehicles are converted into an adjusted mpg rating, so consumers can better appreciate the performance of their hybrid batteries.
So instead, let’s set aside the annual conversation over what cars have the best mpg and instead take a closer look at the question’s inverse. Specifically, which 2015 cars have the worst combined city/highway mpg ratings? So without further ado, here are the 2015 cars with the worst mpg ratings, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Administration’s official ratings.

- 2. The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster features just 12 mpg

- 4. The Chevy Camaro Supercharger and the Rolls-Royce Phantom, with an entire 14 mpg
- 5. The Aston Martin DB9, the Bentley Continental GT (convertible), the Maserati GranTurismo (convertible), and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe, which can get you 15 mpg
- 6. The Lamborghini Huracan, with a 16 mpg rating
- 7. The Mercedes-Benz E63 Station Wagon, which will get you and your family 18 mpg
If you look really, really carefully, you’ll notice that all of the cars featured on this list are completely out of your price range. If you can afford to buy a Bugatti or Ferrari, then apparently you can afford a clean conscience over your abysmal fuel efficiency ratings, too.
